What is XGUN offering?
A physical aiming controller can make a shooter feel more active. XGUN PRO adds a transforming shell and sensor lights, so its usefulness depends as much on setup and game support as on the hardware.
What does the campaign list?
| Detail | What the campaign says |
|---|---|
| Modes | Gamepad, Free Aim, Motion Aim and Hybrid Aim described by the creator |
| Tracking | Four positioning lights around a screen; setup and calibration required |
| Platforms | PC, Switch and Switch 2 direct; PS5 via a dedicated adapter; Xbox unsupported |
| PC software | Windows only; Linux unsupported per creator FAQ |
| Screen size | Standard setup listed for screens up to 110 inches |
How the aim system works
The creator says four positioning lights establish an area around the screen and the controller tracks its aim within it. Free Aim, Motion Aim and Hybrid Aim handle camera movement differently. The campaign FAQ says the product is for traditional screen-based games rather than VR.
Compatibility is the make-or-break detail
The FAQ explicitly excludes Xbox and Linux. On PC, the companion app launches supported Steam titles, but compatibility varies by game. A growing library is a creator plan, not proof that your favorite game will work. PS5 support requires the relevant adapter and reward configuration.
BackerGlow’s take
XGUN PRO is trying to bring a light-gun feeling back to ordinary screens, but its value rests on a chain of compatibility: the console or PC, the supported game, the adapter, room layout and calibration all need to agree. A conventional controller remains the dependable option and requires no screen-mounted lights. We would set up the exact game and display before judging the concept, then play long enough to notice calibration drift, arm fatigue and whether motion modes feel controllable. The transformation is the memorable demonstration; repeatable aim in the games you actually play is the product.
Delivery and reward details
The creator currently estimates January 2027 shipping. Check the selected version for adapter inclusion, screen-size setup, shipping cost and the latest compatibility list. A peripheral that depends on software support has an ongoing maintenance question beyond the initial shipment.
What should you ask before backing?
- Confirm your console, operating system and exact game appear on the current supported list.
- Check whether your reward includes the adapter required for your console.
- Request a calibration demonstration in a normally lit room on a screen near your size.
- Ask how software support for new games is delivered and whether it depends on a Windows app.
Frequently asked questions
Does XGUN PRO work on Xbox?
No. The creator FAQ says Xbox is not supported.
Is it compatible with every PC shooter?
No. The creator maintains a supported-game list, and the PC client is Windows-only. Verify the specific title and platform before backing.
Our verdict: who should consider it?
We would consider it for a player whose preferred platform and games are explicitly supported and who enjoys configuring hardware. Xbox and Linux users should treat the stated exclusions as decisive. Everyone else should verify the exact adapter and game list in writing before backing.
What crowdfunding risks remain?
BackerGlow has not tested the controller or its game library. Crowdfunding delivery estimates can change. Confirm the current reward, supported games, adapter, cancellation rules and shipping before pledging.
